Haere mai, nau mai, mauria mai, ngā tangi o ōu tupuna.Kia mihi ai, kia tangi ai, kia e ai ngā tangi me te aroha kia a ratou.Kua takoto i runga i te moengaroa ā te tini o te mana.Tēna koutou, tena koutou, kia ora tātou. Located minutes from the central city with restaurants, shops and motels within walking distance, Te Unga Waka Marae offers accommodation, hall facilities, and conference rooms within the Epsom complex.Te Unga Waka Marae has an attractive building sited on Manukau Road, an arterial highway that runs between the suburbs of Epsom and Greenlane. Formerly a large bakery, the building was bought by the Auckland Maori Catholic Society under the leadership of Dame Whina Cooper, and redesigned by a local firm of architects. The centre includes a large kitchen and dining hall, a hall an entrance courtyard decorated with tukutuku and and kowhaiwhai, and a chapel downstairs. It has a meeting room on the first floor and a Wharemoe (Sleeping room) on the second floor, where visitors can sleep over night. The centre is run by a marae committee. Although there is no Marae Atea (outdoor space) and the building does not look like a traditional Meeting house, a wide range of hui and activities are held here, including tangi. The Marae is fully utilised with socials, birthdays, weddings, conferences, club meetings and kapahaka trainings are held here. When hui are held at Te Unga Waka it is possible to have a powhiri to welcome the visitors to the Marae.
