Whātapaka marae is located along a private road at the end of Whātapaka Road in Waiuku. The principal iwi associated with Whātapaka is Ngāti Koheriki, Ngai Tai and Ngāti Tamaoho. The marae complex hosts the wharenui Tamaoho, the wharekai Te Kupenga and the wharemoe Te Ohaki o nga Tūpuna.Whātapaka marae sits upon a reservation, Parish of Karaka Lot 64D, which was set aside for the purpose of establishing a community plaza for the affiliated hapū.
